Which AI video generator makes the longest clips?
Short answer: Kling 4.0, with 30 seconds in one generation and up to 2 minutes with extensions. Veo 3.1 has the shortest single clip (8 s) but can be extended to about 2½ minutes through the API.

Lengths are from official model docs, checked October 16, 2026. Scores come from our October test at 4 s / 720p. Kling 4.0 launched on October 16, 2026 and hasn't been tested by us yet. Sora is no longer available: its API shut down on September 24, 2026 (alternatives).
Does length cost more?
Yes, roughly linearly. On the Runway Dev API we paid $0.12/s for Gen-4.5, $0.13/s for Kling 3.0 with audio and $0.15/s for Veo 3.1 Fast with audio. On the PixVerse Platform API, V6 with audio at 720p is about $0.053/s. A 10-second Gen-4.5 clip is about $1.20, the same length on Kling 3.0 with audio is about $1.30, and on PixVerse V6 with audio about $0.53. See cost per second.
Our advice for longer videos
- Story or ad over 15 s: generate 4–8 s shots and edit them together. You can pick the best take per shot, and the cost stays the same.
- One continuous take: Kling 4.0 (30 s) or extension workflows on Veo.
- Several models under one plan: Higgsfield * bundles third-party models with different length limits (not tested yet; * affiliate link, disclosure).

FAQ
Which AI video generator makes the longest videos?
Of the major models, Kling 4.0 has the longest single generation: 3–30 seconds per clip, extendable to 2 minutes (Kling docs, checked October 16, 2026). Kling 3.0, PixVerse V6 and Seedance 2 go up to 15 seconds, Runway Gen-4.5 up to 10, and Veo 3.1 up to 8.
Can AI generate a video longer than 1 minute?
Not in one pass on these models. You get there by extending: Kling 4.0's Video Extension reaches 2 minutes, and the Veo 3.1 API can extend a clip by 7 seconds up to 20 times (up to 148 seconds at 720p). Or you edit several clips together.
Is a longer clip better?
Not automatically. In our tests, prompts with several beats were where models failed most. A 4–8 second clip with one clear action is usually more reliable, and longer clips cost proportionally more (e.g. Runway Gen-4.5 is 12 credits per second).
How long are Gemini (Veo) videos?
Videos generated in the Gemini app are 8 seconds long (Google support page). Through the API, Veo 3.1 supports 4, 6 or 8 seconds.
