Which AI video generator is fastest?
Short answer: PixVerse V6. It rendered our 4-second, 720p clips in a median of 45 seconds. Kling 3.0 was the slowest at a median of 2.5 min, though it was also one of the best-looking.
These are real wall-clock times from our October run, measured from task submission to finished file through each provider's API, one clip per prompt. They aren't vendor claims.
| # | Model | Median render | Average | Fastest / slowest | Fastest on | Our score | Cost per clip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | PixVerse V6 | 45 s | 44 s | 38 s / 46 s | 7 of 11 prompts | 7.1/10 | $0.21 |
| 2 | Veo 3.1 Fast | 47 s | 59 s | 21 s / 120 s | 4 of 11 prompts | 7.2/10 | $0.60 |
| 3 | Runway Gen-4.5 | 68 s | 69 s | 58 s / 83 s | 0 of 11 prompts | 6.9/10 | $0.48 |
| 4 | Kling 3.0 | 151 s | 155 s | 89 s / 240 s | 0 of 11 prompts | 7.2/10 | $0.52 |
11 clips per model, all 4 s at 720p (16:9, except the 9:16 sneaker shot). Kling, Veo and PixVerse had audio on. Runway, Kling and Veo ran through the Runway Dev API on October 15, 2026, and PixVerse through the PixVerse Platform API on October 16. One Veo clip needed a retry, and its time is for the successful attempt. Queue times vary by hour and by plan, so treat these as a snapshot. Scores and costs come from the October rankings.
Speed vs quality
The averages are close at the top, so speed can be the deciding factor. Kling 3.0 had the best average score (7.18/10), but you'd wait about 2.5 min per clip. Veo 3.1 Fast was nearly tied on quality (7.16/10) and came back in a median of 47 seconds, which makes it the best mix of speed and quality in our test. PixVerse V6 was the fastest and most consistent (38–46 s every time) and scored 7.09/10. In the time one Kling clip renders, you could get roughly 3 takes from PixVerse and keep the best.
- Quick iterations and drafts: PixVerse V6, the fastest and cheapest per clip.
- Best balance of speed and quality: Veo 3.1 Fast.
- Final shot where quality matters most: Kling 3.0, if you can wait.
- Cheapest per clip: PixVerse V6 at $0.21 a clip (cheapest AI video generator).

AI image generators are faster
Images take seconds, not minutes. Nano Banana 2.1 took a median of 24 s per image (21–37 s, scored 8.9/10). Ideogram 4.0 took a median of 24 s per image (21–32 s, scored 8.7/10). See the best AI image generator ranking and Nano Banana vs Ideogram.

FAQ
What is the fastest AI video generator?
In our October 2026 test of 4-second, 720p clips, PixVerse V6 had the fastest typical render: a median of 45 seconds per clip (range 38–46 s across 11 prompts). Veo 3.1 Fast came second at a median of 47 s. Kling 3.0 was the slowest at a median of 151 s.
How long does it take to generate an AI video?
For a 4-second 720p clip, between about 21 seconds and 4.0 min in our test, depending on the model. Median times were PixVerse V6 45 s, Veo 3.1 Fast 47 s, Runway Gen-4.5 68 s, Kling 3.0 151 s.
Is the fastest AI video generator also the best?
Not quite. Kling 3.0 had the highest average score (7.18/10) but a median render of 2.5 min. Veo 3.1 Fast was almost tied (7.16/10) at a median of 47 s, and PixVerse V6 scored 7.09/10. If you iterate a lot, a faster model lets you try more takes in the same time.
Why is Kling so slow?
We can't see inside the providers' queues, so we can't say why. We can only report what we measured: Kling 3.0 clips took 89–240 seconds each through the Runway Dev API, with audio on. Times in Kling's own app may differ.
How fast are AI image generators?
Much faster than video. In our test, Nano Banana 2.1 took a median of 24 s per image (21–37 s) and Ideogram 4.0 took a median of 24 s per image (21–32 s).
