What it costs
- Launch-day checks of the Kling app reported 10 credits per second at 720p and 15 per second at 1080p, so a 30-second 1080p clip is about 450 credits (reported here).
- The cheapest Standard plan doesn't list Kling 4.0 in its benefits, so expect to need a higher plan.
- For scale: we paid $0.13 per second for Kling 3.0 with audio through the API, or $0.52 per 4-second clip (cost per second compared).
Want to try it? Test a shot at 720p first, since it costs a third less than 1080p, then render the final at 1080p.

FAQ
When was Kling 4.0 released?
Kling 4.0 Flash opened in early access on September 28, 2026. The full Kling 4.0 model has been available to all users since October 15, 2026, and Kuaishou announced the global launch in a press release on October 16.
How long can Kling 4.0 videos be?
3 to 30 seconds in one generation, in 1-second steps (default 10 s). That is double Kling 3.0's 15 seconds. Kling also describes extending a video up to 2 minutes, but its own user guide still marks Video Extension as coming soon.
Is Kling 4.0 free?
No. It runs on Kling credits. Third-party checks on launch day reported about 10 credits per second at 720p and 15 per second at 1080p, so a 30-second 1080p clip is about 450 credits, and the cheapest Standard plan does not list Kling 4.0 in its benefits. Monthly plan table: AI video generator pricing. Check Kling's plans page before you buy, since prices change often.
How much do Kling plans cost?
Kling Standard is $10/mo (list, Oct 2026) and does not list Kling 4.0 in its benefits — expect a higher tier for 4.0. Full comparison across Kling, Veo, PixVerse and Runway: AI video generator pricing. Per-second API rates (3.0 tested): cost per second.

Not a public one yet. Kling's press release says API access for enterprise customers and developers is coming soon. That is also why it isn't in our October test: every model there was run through an API on identical settings.
Is Kling 4.0 better than Kling 3.0?
On paper it does much more: 30-second clips, up to 10 keyframes, up to 15 reference files and stereo audio. We haven't scored it yet, so we can't say how its picture quality compares. For reference, Kling 3.0 scored 7.2/10 in our October 2026 test, tied for #1 with Veo 3.1 Fast. Full write-up: Kling 3.0 review · Veo vs Kling.
