Which AI video generator is the most realistic?
Short answer: it's a three-way tie at the top. Kling 3.0 edges it with a realism score of 7.15/10, but PixVerse V6 (7.12) and Veo 3.1 Fast (7.09) are within 0.06 points. Each wins a different part of realism: Veo looks the most polished, Kling glitches the least, and PixVerse moves the most naturally. Runway Gen-4.5 is a step behind at 6.91.
How we got this: every clip from our October run was scored 1–10 without knowing which model made it, on prompt adherence, motion, visual quality and artifacts (methodology). The realism score here is the average of the last three. It leaves out adherence, because a clip can look real while ignoring the prompt. Nothing on this page is a new judgment; it's the same blind scores, regrouped.
| # | Model | Realism | Visual quality | Artifacts (higher = fewer) | Motion | Worst clip | Most realistic on | Cost per clip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Kling 3.0 | 7.15 | 7.55 | 7.09 | 6.82 | 6.0 | 1 of 11 prompts | $0.52 |
| 2 | PixVerse V6 | 7.12 | 7.73 | 6.73 | 6.91 | 5.7 | 2 of 11 prompts | $0.21 |
| 3 | Veo 3.1 Fast | 7.09 | 7.82 | 7.00 | 6.45 | 6.0 | 4 of 11 prompts | $0.60 |
| 4 | Runway Gen-4.5 | 6.91 | 7.45 | 6.55 | 6.73 | 6.0 | 2 of 11 prompts | $0.48 |
11 clips per model, 4 s at 720p, default settings, one generation per prompt. Highlighted: best average on that criterion. "Most realistic on" counts outright wins only; ties aren't counted. Runway, Kling and Veo ran through the Runway Dev API on October 15, 2026, and PixVerse through the PixVerse Platform API on October 16. Scores were judged from frames, so audio and lip-sync aren't part of realism here (see the lip-sync test).
What "realistic" means for each model
- Most polished look: Veo 3.1 Fast (7.82 on visual quality). Lighting, texture and detail looked the most like real footage.
- Fewest glitches: Kling 3.0 (7.09 on artifacts). The fewest melting hands, warping objects and flicker.
- Most natural movement: PixVerse V6 (6.91 on motion). No model averaged above 7 on motion, and it was the weakest score for three of the four, so this is where AI video still gives itself away most often. The physics test shows the failures.
- Least realistic overall: Runway Gen-4.5, mainly on artifacts (6.55). It still made the single best clip on some prompts, so check the table below.
Because the top three are this close, pick by the shot. Faces and crowds, food and liquids, and fast action each favour different models.

Most realistic AI image generator
Image models scored much higher than video models. On our three photoreal prompts (photoreal portrait of an old fisherman, skincare product flat-lay, rooftop selfie (the hands test)), the average of quality and artifact scores was:
- Nano Banana 2.1: 8.67/10 on the photoreal prompts (8.81 across all 8 image prompts).
- Ideogram 4.0: 8.50/10 on the photoreal prompts (8.56 across all 8 image prompts).

FAQ
What is the most realistic AI video generator?
In our October 2026 blind test, Kling 3.0 had the highest realism score at 7.15/10, but PixVerse V6 (7.12) and Veo 3.1 Fast (7.09) were within 0.06 points, which is effectively a tie on 11 prompts. Runway Gen-4.5 trailed at 6.91. The realism score is the average of our motion, image quality and artifact scores, leaving out prompt adherence.
Which AI video generator has the best image quality?
Veo 3.1 Fast, with an average visual-quality score of 7.82/10 across 11 prompts. Kling 3.0 averaged 7.55, PixVerse V6 averaged 7.73, Runway Gen-4.5 averaged 7.45.
Which AI video generator makes the fewest glitches?
Kling 3.0 scored best on artifacts (melting hands, warping objects, flicker), averaging 7.09/10. Runway Gen-4.5 had the most visible artifacts at 6.55/10.
Which AI video generator has the most natural motion?
PixVerse V6, at 6.91/10 on motion. No model averaged above 7 on motion, and it was the weakest criterion for three of the four (Runway's weakest was artifacts). See our physics test for the clips where motion broke.
What is the most realistic AI image generator?
On our three photoreal image prompts (a portrait, a product flat-lay and a group selfie), Nano Banana 2.1 averaged 8.67/10 for quality and artifacts, versus 8.50 for Ideogram 4.0. Both scored well above every video model.
